GEP Areas of Expertise

General Civil

Site development typically requires a professional civil engineer to prepare paving grading and drainage plans, utilities plans, stormwater protection plans and all required specifications.  The civil engineer is typically the gate keeper to the overall development of the site between the full team of design professionals.  These services many times require reports, calculations and modeling.  These reports contain the detail and support that are required for regulatory approvals.  Understanding the requirements is only half of the basis of design, client needs to also be accounted for.

Roadway & Traffic

Roadway design plans are prepared in accordance to the Florida Department of Transportations (FDOT) plans preparation manual.  Roadway plans are designed with typical base line and offset with all required construction specificaitons.  Traffic engineering is required for many impactful projects.  A traffic study is prepared by gathering all available existing data, obtaining approved data that isn’t constructed yet, calculate projected traffic, compline into a signed and sealed report.

Planning & PD&E

Planning is required for all projects.  This is a creative task that is the basis for all other designs.  GEP obtains a survey and then develops a concept plan for client review.  Typically there may be several iterations between client and GEP to obtain the most specifically prepared plan.  Many times during the planning the client may have additional ideas that can be incorporated once a plan is able to be viewed.  By being entranched as the planner enables us to have a smooth transition into civil engineering construction document preparation.

Stormwater Management

GEP prepares stormwater reports and plans in numerous drainage districts throughout the state.  Our team all has experience in being technical reviewers for drainage taxing districts.  We are known for the understanding of what stormwater management.  This enables us to have understandable clear calculations that are easy to review.  We recommend asking South Florida Water Management District (SFWMD) what they think of our technical skills and publicaitons.

Canal Stabilization

Along with Stormwater management, GEP has designed well over 50 miles of various canal stabilization systems.  Our team worked for the City of Doral on the Canal stabilization 10 year program.  The project was delivered from planning to construction certifications with a very satisfied City that kept on hiring us.

Civil Engineering Inspection (CEI)

This task is the fruit of the labor. After all the design and approvals/bidding the construction starts. GEP provides staff prepared to assist in delivering the construction of your project.  We can provide staff from full time to whenever needed. Protecting the investment in construction is a prudent decision. There are always very minor changes in construction, how these are communicated and negotiated are the keys to the project’s success.

Marina and Dock Design

GEP enjoys working on recreational facilities especially on the water. Dock design usually requires DEP permitting. The extra layer of review takes additional time and coordination to develop a cohesive upland and water ward design. Causeway Cove Marina in Fort Pierce is our most gorgeous facility.  We have been delivering dock and marina projects for over 20 years throughout most of Florida.

Parks & Recreation

GEP is very strong in park design.   We have worked on over 15 different parks in the last 6 years. Our shining achievement was the Doral Glades Park.  This park was a $11M project that included, a nature center, tennis, backetball, totlots, boardwalk, fishing piers, kayak launch, gazebo’s, parking and off site infrastructure.

Community Development District (CDD) Engineer

GEP has over 15 years of experience being a CDD district engineer.  This role is required to have an engineer to protect the comprised developments from faulty maintenance of infrastructure.  We attend meetings, manage reports, hire subcontractors to assist development, permit proposed work and any other duty requested for the District Engineer.

We continue to work with some of the biggest brands
